NOTE: after 28 years of sitting together, as of June 27, 2012, Mintwood Zendo is no longer meeting.

Mintwood Zendo is a meditation group that provides an opportunity for the GLBTQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning) community and their friends to strengthen their spirituality. Our community (Sangha) consists of Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike who practice Zazen, the form of our sitting meditation, which originated in the Zen Buddhist tradition. We come together on Wednesday evenings to develop, strenthen and support one another in our practice through silent meditation.

The Zendo was founded in 1984 by Andrew Hudson to support the meditation practice of the GLBTQ community and their friends. We meet regularly to practice and for the opening of compassion that comes from Zazen. Through silent meditation, we practice to cultivate awareness and cut through our delusions, awakening to the reality of the here and now.
